The Perfect Time To Clean Your Bass!

Hallo!

Yes, I will tell you when is the perfect time to clean you bass guitar, or guitar or whatever stringed-instrument do you have.

The perfect time is = When you're changing your strings of course.

Together with this post, I want to show a little tips on how to clean your instrument. In my case, my bass..hehehe

Well firstly, take out all the strings.

Then prepare you cleaning aid.
Haha! I know these are LCD screen spray and a hand sanitizer!

Anyhow, these are what I use to clean my bass.
Have been using it a while now, it doesn't leave a bad effect on my bass body though.
This cloth is no ordinary cloth. It is a fiber and usually used to clean car body.

This cloth is the best wiper I had because it doesn't leave a scratch on my bass body.

For the bridge, I will use a cloth to wipe off dirt

Then use a cotton buds to clean the unreachable by cloth.
Another method is to take off the saddle (the parts where the string rests & can be tuned to lower or raise the string), but this sure takes a lot of time and patience. Hehe..

After cleaning the bridge, I spray the body and put a little bit of the sanitizer and wipe through the body using the fiber cloth.

I also apply the same technique above for the fretboard.

But after wiping, I use cotton buds to clean any 'sweat dirt' on the frets.

Sometime for a long time playing and no cleaning, a moss.. NO KIDDING!! It happens to me; well a long time ago..hehehehe
eh I haven't finish my words yet, (sorry), a moss will 'evolve'..hm hm hm
I also don't forget the headstock and tuning heads and the nut. =)

Look at how shiny my bass body after cleaning..feeling new..aha!

After all the cleaning procedures, here goes the new string installment.

To install the 1st & 5th (or 1st and 6th on guitar or 4th for 4strings bass or so on....), don't place the strings beyond the nuts groove natural force..how to explain ah? I'll draw a guide for you;

To put it up, just place the string like the drawn arrows.

This will keep the nuts in natural force to keep the string in place.

Because when you install the string like this, the nuts will not last more than.....I would say, 2~3 years.

Trust me because I've been in the scenario before -where the nuts break because the string tension force it outside.

That's all. Happy Day.. =)
